Lettering

These are type experiments for title treatments, mast-heads, display type, etc. Methods and techniques vary but I generally start with a typeface and make adjustments by changing or adding elements to create a cohesive style, establish a mood, or express a concept, theme or idea.

Ted Chiang's science-fiction compilation, primarily highlighting the "Story of Your Life" short-story on language, the varieties of communication and non-linear time travel.

Celebrating Alexander Von Humboldt [scientist]. A blackletter typeface with a bit of custom modifications, mostly roughed up edges to give it a less refined look and feel.

Satori (a becoming of sorts) display title. Based on a book about habits.

Pueblo: A character study for personal development and self-actualization.

Logotype inspired by the music of the psychedelic/shoegaze band and the Bernini sculpture of the same name (i.e., The Ecstacy of Saint Theresa).

Title for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. A stainless steel tool used for holding and magnifying miniature craft objects is used to visually represent the creature.
